Jamie MacDonald gives herself permission to finally let go on “Left It In The River,” her highly anticipated follow-up to her chart-topping, record-breaking radio debut, “Desperate.”
On the effervescent “Left It In The River,” MacDonald reflects on the transformation she experienced after committing her life to Jesus and being baptized at age 21. The former high school dropout and drug addict had a radical encounter with the Lord that changed the entire trajectory of her life. She remembers the newfound liberation she felt following that moment of genuine surrender. The emerging songstress says she’s never been the same since.

“We wrote ‘Left It In The River’ as a declaration of freedom. It’s about what happens when you finally lay it down — the shame, the striving, the weight you were never meant to carry — and you leave it all behind,” MacDonald explains of the selection she penned with Colby Wedgeworth and Jonathan Gamble. “My prayer is that this song becomes your anthem of joy, renewal and freedom. May it meet you right where you are and remind you of the truth: Who the Son sets free is free indeed!”
MacDonald added “Left It In The River” to her setlist this summer when she opened for Chris Tomlin at a one-night-only event at New York’s iconic Central Park. Following an opening slot on Seph Schlueter’s “Counting My Blessings Tour” throughout the spring, the soulful newcomer is set to provide direct support on Benjamin William Hastings’ “At The Heart Of It Tour” this fall.

A backup singer and session vocalist for years, MacDonald’s undeniable vocal prowess has already garnered the attention of her peers, which has resulted in collaborations with TobyMac, Passion and Lauren Daigle. Additionally, she’s also slated to be featured on the closing track of Tomlin’s upcoming studio album, “The King Is Still The King,” out Sept. 26.
After accruing a trio of K-LOVE Fan Award nominations earlier this year, MacDonald recently received her first Dove Award nod and will vie for Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for “Desperate” at the 56th Annual GMA Dove Awards, held Oct. 7 in Nashville, Tennessee.
