Unbridled energy pulsates throughout the vibrant “How Good It Is,” making praise feel like the only response. Awash with colorful sonic textures and ready-made for sing-alongs, the project opener is as effervescent as any selection in Tomlin’s catalog, to date, recalling the vitality of his “God’s Great Dance Floor” days. Meanwhile, Scripture weaves throughout the track like a golden thread, extolling the unchanging character of Christ.
“‘How Good It Is’ is a celebration of the greatness of God, the goodness of God and the faithfulness of God,” the award-winning artist affirms. “Nearly every word is pulled directly from Scripture — from Psalm 92, 98, 100 and 113. When we sing it together, we’re proclaiming God’s Word, and there’s something powerful in that.”
Across the full collection, Tomlin intentionally incorporates a hefty amount of Bible passages, as well as sounds from nature that bring God’s creation to life alongside lyrics that proclaim the work of His hands.

With that creation-focused theme in mind, there’s, arguably, no better place to showcase these new songs than among the natural beauty found at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Selling out the outdoor venue for the fourth time, Tomlin concluded his brief “Worship Under the Stars” run, which also saw the renowned worship leader performing at New York’s Central Park and Baltimore’s Pier Six.
Following a return to churches across a fall tour that also introduces fresh worship collective The Heritage, the singer-songwriter will reprise his annual Christmas outing, stopping in 11 cities this December with special guest Jamie MacDonald.
