Anne Wilson is living proof God writes the best stories. That doesn’t mean His stories are void of pain, however, and that’s the dichotomy Wilson explores on her latest single, “God Story.”
From losing her brother in a devastating car accident when he was only 23 to sharing her songs of redemption on stages across the country, Wilson’s life is a remarkable narrative that has divine fingerprints all over it. Her new, anthemic selection is a celebration of the mysterious ways God works in the lives of those who put their trust in Him.

“‘God Story’ is so personal to me, because it’s about those moments in life where you look back and think, ‘Only God could’ve brought me through that,’” Wilson shares of the original offering that made its radio debut as a K-LOVE First. “We all have a God story — times when He shows up in ways we never expected. My hope is that this song helps people see that even in the middle of the pain or the waiting, God is still writing something beautiful.”
Wilson asked fans to share their own God stories, some of which she highlights in the official music video for the track. The uplifting visual premiered on KLOVE.com.
The three-time K-LOVE Fan Award winner penned the upbeat declaration with frequent collaborators Matthew West and Jeff Pardo. “God Story” is one of a dozen originals slated to appear on Wilson’s third studio album, “Stars,” arriving Oct. 17. In support of the project, Wilson will embark on a nine-date “Stars Tour” this fall.

Since the release of 2024’s “REBEL,” the Kentucky native has refined her sound, intentionally blending country melodies with faith-fueled lyrics. Her fusion of genres has opened surprising doors for Wilson in country music as she simultaneously remains loyal to her Christian roots. Cementing her status as a rising voice in country music, the “My Jesus” singer opened select stadium dates for country phenomenon Morgan Wallen this summer. “God Story” kickstarts Wilson’s next crossover act, with the song spinning at both country and Christian radio.
New music and a fresh setlist aren’t the only things Wilson’s been prepping. Following her well-received memoir that detailed her family tragedy, the songstress will release “Hey Girl,” a 40-day devotional for young women, Sept. 30.
