K-LOVE Fan Awards: Group of the Year

Five out of this year’s eight Group of the Year nominees are already K-LOVE Fan Award winners. All of them are previous nominees. Your 2024 finalists for Group of the Year are as follows: Big Daddy Weave, CAIN, Casting Crowns, Elevation Worship, Maverick City Music, MercyMe, We Are Messengers and We The Kingdom. Proving we’re always better together, these handpicked collectives will be cheering each other on as they celebrate the music they and their peers have made over the past year. Fans will then select who will take home the trophy for Group of the Year.

Hosted by Brandon Lake and Sadie Robertson Huff, the 11th annual K-LOVE Fan Awards will air exclusively on TBN Friday, May 31, 2024, at 7 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. ET.

Big Daddy Weave

Big Daddy Weave

Since winning their very first K-LOVE Fan Award in 2013, Big Daddy Weave has been a regular part of the annual celebration. Last year, the band performed “God Is In This Story” with duet partner Katy Nichole on the K-LOVE Fan Awards stage. This year, frontman Mike Weaver will appear at Saturday morning’s Worship in the Round. The constant road warriors just saw their most recent single, “Heaven Changes Everything,” summit the radio charts.

CAIN

CAIN

Sibling trio CAIN will take part in this year’s Kick-Off Concert, which opens the 2024 K-LOVE Fan Awards Weekend. Last year, they hosted the awards show, commemorating its 10th anniversary. The family band, who won Breakout Single of the Year in 2021 for “Rise Up (Lazarus),” has spent much of the last year on the road. They’ve been busy headlining their own shows, as well as joining the lineup for Winter Jam ’24 and Chris Tomlin’s “Holy Forever World Tour,” in support of their sophomore LP, “Jesus Music.”

Casting Crowns

Casting Crowns

Casting Crowns was the first artist to be named Group of the Year when the K-LOVE Fan Awards debuted back in 2013. The following year, they captured Artist of the Year honors. To commemorate 20 years of music and ministry, Casting Crowns’ latest live outing revisited their catalog with the help of an orchestra in select cities across the U.S. The established act will headline the multi-artist “Awakening Tour” this fall.

Elevation Worship

Elevation Worship

Holding steady for another run at Group of the Year, Elevation Worship adds to their impressive momentum with another pair of back-to-back No. 1 hits — “Trust In God” and “Praise” — their first Christmas effort and a massive arena tour that broke attendance records. Poised for a string of summer dates kicking off in July, the Charlotte, N.C., based collective continues to steadily release new music.

Maverick City Music

Maverick City Music

Double nominees this year, Maverick City Music notches not only a Group of the Year nod, but also recognition in the Worship Song of the Year category for “Fear Is Not My Future.” Known for being the ultimate cross-genre unifiers, Maverick City Music’s recent collaborations include songs with modern worship risers JWLKRS Worship, rock outfit NEEDTOBREATHE, Gospel music sensation Tasha Cobbs Leonard and “American Idol” alum Ashley Hess, among many others.

MercyMe

MercyMe

Following a performance of No. 1 hit “Then Christ Came” with David Leonard at last year’s K-LOVE Fan Awards, MercyMe was honored with their second Group of the Year accolade before once again ascending the charts with follow-up single “To Not Worship You.” Both songs appear on their latest album, “Always Only Jesus.” The veteran act will headline the 2024 Kick-Off Concert during the K-LOVE Fan Awards Weekend.

We Are Messengers

We Are Messengers

During his acceptance speech in 2019, We Are Messengers’ lead singer Darren Mulligan revealed the group’s win for Breakout Single of the Year for “Maybe It’s Ok” was their first award win ever. It certainly won’t be their last. For 2024, the Irish-fronted band garners a Group of the Year nomination on the strength of their new studio set, “Where The Joy Is,” and its driving lead single, “God Be The Glory.”

We The Kingdom

We The Kingdom

Despite the fact they lost charismatic fronting female Franni Rae Cash Cain when she exited the band at the end of 2023, We The Kingdom shows no signs of slowing down. The group’s remaining members — Ed Cash, Scott Cash, Martin Cash and Andrew Bergthold — have continued to roll out new music and fill their calendar with concert dates, where their live show is as innovative and buzzworthy as ever.
