(Franklin, TN) When it comes to blending faith, creativity, and digital media, few people do it quite like Matt Mundt. As the creator of the YouTube channel The Salty Christians and a digital marketing expert, Matt has spent years helping Christian artists, ministries, and nonprofits reach their audiences online—all while keeping kingdom purposes at the forefront.
“I love all things digital marketing,” Matt says. “Digital ads, social media, all of it—helping people reach their fans and audience. But I love doing it for Kingdom purposes.”
Matt’s passion for connecting faith and creativity has deep roots. Having spent more than 20 years in Christian music and media—including time at K-LOVE and various record labels—Matt understands the power of storytelling and community. “Once you work in a ministry like K-LOVE, you get spoiled by all the fun experiences you get to be a part of,” he says. Now, working from home while his wife homeschools their kids, Matt finds the balance of family, faith, and work to be ideal.

Matt and his family have called Franklin, Tennessee, home for seven years. And living there comes with its own unique surprises. “I’ll joke with my wife when I go to the coffee shop—who knows if I’ll meet a new client or run into Michael W. Smith at Costco,” he shares with a laugh. “It’s a very unique place where you run into the people and music you love—it’s a great place to call home.”
Matt’s YouTube channel started with a simple idea: Christians influencing culture through their gifts. Inspired by Bob Briner’s book "Roaring Lambs," which encourages Christians to create better art rather than complain about the world, Matt wanted to highlight everyday believers making a difference.
“My very first episode was with a guy named Dean, who works at a pharmacy,” Matt recalls. “Every time he prays for someone while helping them, he’s being salt and light in his everyday life. I wanted to share these stories—the simple, faithful ways people show Christ in their context.”
Matt pairs his love for storytelling with his expertise in digital media, noting that more people watch YouTube on TVs than on Netflix, Hulu, or cable. This platform allows him to showcase stories that inspire, challenge, and encourage viewers in their walk with Jesus.
Matt’s episodes cover a wide range of fascinating subjects. One popular video takes viewers through the new Christian and Gospel Music Museum in Nashville, featuring artifacts from VeggieTales, Johnny Cash’s Bible, and Brandon Lake’s Coat of Many Colors. “As a Christian music fan, it was so fun to go down memory lane and see these pieces of history,” he says.
He’s also interviewed Nashville-area creatives like Tom Bancroft, a former Disney animator who now uses his talents for VeggieTales and other kingdom purposes. “It’s inspiring to see someone take their skills and continue to glorify God in their work,” Matt says.
And then there are the unexpected stories—like the street preacher he interviewed downtown Nashville. Matt admits he was skeptical at first. “I think many people assume street preaching is harsh, but this group shared Jesus’ love with care and intentionality. They would talk with people, pray for them, and truly minister to them. It reminded me of Jesus and the disciples—they were street preachers too.”
Matt’s faith extends beyond digital content. He works with ministries like Wild Ops, which supports veterans struggling with life after service. “Over 22 veterans lose their lives daily to suicide,” Matt says. “Wild Ops takes these men into the wilderness, sharing the gospel and giving them a safe space to heal and be baptized. It’s incredible to see lives transformed spiritually and emotionally.”
Locally, Matt highlights ministries such as Both Hands, which serves widows and orphans in the Nashville area. Volunteers come together to help widows with home repairs, and the pledges raised support orphan care. “You never know who in your own community needs help,” Matt says. “Seeing dozens of people come together to serve a widow in need was truly inspiring.”
Matt also enjoys mentoring his son through a YouTube channel called Kid Intern, where his son explores different careers and interviews professionals. From visiting a Christian record label to checking out a fire station, Matt uses these experiences to teach his son about work, creativity, and faith in action.
“It’s humbling when your son’s videos get more views than yours,” Matt laughs. But beyond views, it’s a meaningful way to spend time together while fostering creativity and faith.
Ultimately, Matt’s mission with The Salty Christians is to encourage viewers to live out their faith wherever God has placed them. “Every video is a reminder that God has given you a story and a sphere of influence,” he says. “You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment or the perfect position—be salt and light right where you are.”
With over 6,000 subscribers (and counting!) on YouTube, The Salty Christians is more than a channel—it’s a community celebrating everyday Christians making an eternal impact.
