Madison's story didn't end November 22nd, 2024. Instead, a nurse who had taken a different route home that day crossed her path at a critical moment, setting in motion what can only be described as a God Story.

Madison Vinduska would describe her life before the crash as “normal, and busy.” She was raising two young sons and operating a homemade ice cream and sweets food truck in rural Kansas. But in an instant on Nov. 22, 2024, everything changed. Through it all, her family says God’s presence has been noticed along every step of the way.
When Madison and her 3-year-old-son, Miller, were involved in a serious traffic incident, they felt God’s protection for the first time after Miller walked away completely unharmed.
“We’ll never stop being grateful to the Lord for that,” said Madison’s mother, Robin.
Moments later, God continued orchestrating protection, as a trauma nurse who normally traveled a different route, felt prompted to drive another way that day. The detour brought her directly to the scene of the crash, where she was able to stabilize Madison’s neck and kept her airway open until emergency crew could arrive.
“Her presence there saved Madison’s life,” Robin Dicks, Madison's mom said.

Madison was rushed to a trauma center in Wichita, Kansas, where doctors discovered the extent of her injuries: Broken ribs, brain hemorrhaging and a severe spinal cord injury, along with numerous cuts and bruises. She was intubated and underwent emergency surgery to fuse her neck and spine.
And once again, her family could feel God’s presence as a trauma surgeon later told the family that patients with injuries like Madison’s rarely make it to the hospital alive.
But she did, and we know why.
Robin remembers racing to the hospital, with fear overwhelming her, crying out to Jesus the entire way begging him to save her Madison.
“When I got there, all I could say was, ‘Jesus, thank You for healing her,” Robin shared.
Madison spent the next 18 days in intensive care. Where she battled pneumonia, a tracheostomy tube, a feeding tube and countless challenges. One of the biggest, being that she could not communicate.
“Only the power of Jesus carried her through,” Robin said.

Madison was then transferred to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, beginning her lengthy rehabilitation journey.
One of the family’s greatest answered prayers was that Madison suffered no cognitive impairment despite her traumatic brain injury. Initially, she had no movement except for her eyes but today she moves her arms and legs, and can participate in assisted standing and walking, she operates her wheelchair and phone independently using head controls and has regained her ability to speak.
“That’s a miracle,” Robin said, and Madison agreed “There were too many miracles for Him not to be with me”

Their family has also witnessed God’s provision through their community and the outpouring of support. Friends and family members organized benefit events, donated financially, built a wheelchair ramp, and provided meals and encouragement throughout the recovery process.
Robin says looking back, God has taught her a powerful and difficult lesson, “I am not in control of anything” she said. “The only thing I can do is trust Him.”
Today, Madison is still working toward greater independence, but offers a simple reminder: even when the road ahead is difficult, God is still present, working through every step of the journey.
