Organizers of America Reads the Bible today announced that more than 3 million viewers tuned in to the historic weeklong Scripture-reading event livestreamed on Great American Pure Flix from April 18–25 in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The 84-hour broadcast marked the highest-rated event in Pure Flix history, with thousands more attending in person at the Museum of the Bible, underscoring the unprecedented national engagement surrounding the initiative.
Featuring 84 continuous hours of cover-to-cover Bible reading from Genesis to Revelation, nearly 500 readers representing a broad cross section of American life, and support from 122 ministry partners, the event is already being hailed as a success of “biblical proportions.”
Hosted by Christians Engaged at the Museum of the Bible, the landmark gathering united farmers, pastors, elected officials, entertainers, athletes, and ministry leaders in a public declaration of the enduring power of Scripture – accented by a special Presidential Message from the White House.
“This began as a simple vision to call America back to Bible reading and discipleship,” said Bunni Pounds, founder and president of Christians Engaged.
“Two years ago, when I was inspired at the Museum of the Bible to launch this event, I never imagined it would resonate so deeply with millions of people across the country. Personally, witnessing God’s blessing on this effort has been beyond anything I could have asked or imagined. To Him alone be the glory.”
Pounds added: “We are already hearing stories of renewed hope and transformed lives, and I believe the full impact of this movement will unfold in the months and years ahead. God’s Word does not return void.”
Inspired by the biblical account of Ezra’s public reading of Scripture that sparked national revival, America Reads the Bible was designed as a national call to renewal through God’s Word.
The week included numerous memorable moments, including a historic recorded reading by President Donald Trump of 2 Chronicles 7:11–22—the first time since Ronald Reagan that a sitting president has publicly read this passage and the first time ever that a sitting president has publicly read more than a single Bible verse.
Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, said, “We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated, watched, prayed, and helped make this possible. To see more than three million people tune in simply to hear Scripture read aloud is both humbling and encouraging. It affirms that there is a real hunger in this country for content rooted in faith and truth.
“For us at Great American Pure Flix, it was an honor to serve as the platform that carried God’s Word into homes across the nation. We’re excited about what this means for the future, not just for Pure Flix, but for continuing to provide programming that strengthens families and reflects the values so many Americans hold dear,” Abbott added.
