New Song Feature: "The Jesus Way" Phil Wickham

If there was any doubt as to what Phil Wickham believes, “The Jesus Way” leaves little room for deliberation. The K-LOVE Fan Award winner stakes a firm claim of faith with his third single from “I Believe.”

Given the divisive climate we’re currently living in, “The Jesus Way” makes a countercultural statement, proclaiming that Jesus is — without question — the way, the truth and the life. With lyrics that reflect the ethos of The Beatitudes found in Matthew 5 — often referred to as Jesus’ famous “Sermon on the Mount” — “The Jesus Way” is Wickham’s personal mantra of the man he wants to be. In 2024, the lyrics are truly radical when you consider lines like those found in the first verse: “If you curse me, then I will bless you. If you hurt me, I will forgive. And if you hate me, then I will love you. I choose the Jesus way.”

Three years in the making, the powerful ballad finds Wickham wholeheartedly pledging His allegiance to Jesus and His biblical teachings. “‘The Jesus Way’ is one of the closest songs to my heart that I’ve ever released. It’s impacted my own life personally in a profound way. For me, it’s a line-in-the-sand song about what I want to stand for and who I follow,” Wickham shares. “I’m so excited to sing this song with the Church, and I’m inviting anyone and everyone who follows Jesus to join me in this anthem.”

Wickham saw the bold ballad take on a life of its own each night on the “Summer Worship Nights” tour as he shared a stripped-down version of the track during his second consecutive arena-outing with Brandon Lake this past August. Fans will be able to catch a glimpse of this moment when “FOR THE ONE” — the duo’s “Summer Worship Nights” tour documentary — hits movie theaters nationwide Oct. 27-29, 2024.

The “Battle Belongs” singer will round out another remarkable year with a string of shows in Canada this fall, followed by his annual Christmas tour comprised of five concerts in his home state of California. Fans lucky enough to attend his holiday performances will be treated to brand new music as the father of four is currently putting the finishing touches on a fresh Christmas project due later this year.
