Crowder Reasons We’re All a Work in Progress on ‘STILL’

New Song Feature STILL by Crowder

Crowder’s new single, “STILL,” reminds us that God isn’t finished with us yet. Despite our missteps, the pop gem affirms His grace never runs out. We’re all a work in progress as our Creator shapes us — day by day — into the likeness of Jesus.

Initially, the award-winning singer went into his co-write with Ben Glover and Jeff Sojka thinking they’d craft a contemplative tune, rooted in the Psalms, about being still and letting the Lord work on our behalf. However, when the lyrics started flowing, the session took an unexpected turn that led to an infectious earworm about the ongoing, internal work God is doing in us and through us to make us more like Him.

Reflecting on the message behind the future hit, Crowder quotes Billy Graham as saying, “Mountaintops are for views and inspiration, but fruit is grown in the valleys,” encouraging listeners that, oftentimes, the hardest moments in life forge the brightest gold in us.

“This song is about the faithfulness of God. You might feel discouraged; your surroundings may seem bleak, but He’s working on you. And He doesn’t quit until His work is complete,” Crowder asserts. “God does not give up on us. He’s still working. Right now, He’s active, present; and He’s making me more and more like Him every day.

“STILL” is found on the Texas native’s most recent album, “The EXILE,” which has already spawned two back-to-back No. 1s, including “Good God Almighty” and “Somebody Prayed.”

Following a string of summer festivals and select shows with Matt Maher and Zach Williams, Crowder is set to headline the “Grace & Glory Tour” this fall, alongside Passion, Kari Jobe Carnes, Cody Carnes and a nightly message from Passion City Church pastor and author Louie Giglio.
