Patrick Mayberry is asking God to take the reins on his new single, “Lead On Good Shepherd.” Featuring fresh female vocalist Zahriya Zachary, the song leans on the familiarity of Psalm 23 for inspiration. But don’t be fooled into thinking the Scripture passage’s peaceful imagery equates to a ballad. The song’s message carries comfort, yes, but its sonics are rife with unrivaled energy.

After two decades of leading worship, the “Holy Spirit Come” singer reveals he’s discovered that God doesn’t only show up in life-altering instances of epic breakthrough. In fact, the father of four has come to find that, more times than not, the seemingly ordinary seasons are just as miraculous.
“While the big moments and victories are incredible and worthy of praise, I’m learning that, for me, following Jesus is also made up of small moments and little invitations to a deeper trust,” Mayberry shares. “What if God’s faithfulness isn’t always a victory? What if His faithfulness isn’t always walls crumbling down? Or giants falling? Or even mountains moving? Or things working out the way we want them to? What if God’s faithfulness is the simple promise that He will never leave us or forsake us…no matter what?”
Following the high-octane “Easy To Praise,” the country-tinged track is the second radio single from Mayberry’s highly anticipated full-length debut, “Wild Faith,” releasing Sept. 1, 2023. The imminent 10-song collection includes a special album version of “Lead On Good Shepherd” that features his former tourmate, Crowder, while the duet with Zachary is exclusive to Christian radio.
Before releasing music under his own name, the veteran worship leader wrote songs recorded by Passion, David Leonard and Chris Renzema, among other acts. In addition, he’s penned selections that have attracted sync placements with T-Mobile, the NBA, NBC’s “TODAY” show, and more.
Mayberry will share music from his adventurous new project, “Wild Faith,” as he traverses the U.S. and Canada on Jeremy Camp’s “I Still Believe Tour” this fall.
