What do bald eagles, Matthew 6 and Oswald Chambers have in common? God used all three to speak to TAYA about her second studio album, “The Reminder.”
While praying over the project on a retreat in Fallbrook, California, TAYA received a deeper revelation of Matthew 6:26: “Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?”
This idea became a guiding star as the native Australian began writing and recording the follow-up to her 2023 self-titled debut.
“[The birds are] just being obedient to the instincts that God has placed on the inside of them,” TAYA shares, paraphrasing a devotional from “My Utmost For His Highest” by Chambers. “They’re just soaring.”
Appropriately, the 12-track offering would later become the reminder TAYA needed as she walked through a difficult season. Between unexpectedly leaving her church of 13 years, becoming a mom and navigating a second cancer diagnosis, the “Come Into The Light” singer unknowingly penned lyrics she would later cling to for herself.
Get cozy and have some tissues on hand for this heartwarming and vulnerable conversation between K-LOVE’s Careth and TAYA.
