Glen Motto talks with Matt Kauffman, founder and farm manager of 5 Loaves Farm, serving Buffalo by addressing food insecurity through urban farming and youth mentorship. Kauffman explains how the faith-based ministry began as a small church garden and grew into a thriving urban farm focused on growing healthy food, building community, and creating opportunity for local youth, including immigrants and refugees. He also discusses how the farm provides job training, shared community meals, and thousands of pounds of fresh produce to a nearby neighborhood food pantry. Kauffman shares how 5 Loaves Farm uses the land as a “living classroom,” teaching life skills, responsibility, and redemption.
