Jordan St. Cyr reminds listeners of a God who saves on his new single, “Rescue.” The “Fires” singer enlists the unmistakable vocal of Elevation Worship’s Tiffany Hudson to help bring the track to life. Together, St. Cyr’s raw, gritty tone and Hudson’s signature warmth intertwine to capture the essence of who our Savior really is — a God who frees, delivers and rescues.
While the song’s message is universal in nature, the genesis of the emotive ballad was actually birthed from a specific time period in St. Cyr’s life when he desperately needed rescue.
“‘Rescue’ was inspired by a two-week season where it felt like my family and I were being attacked on all sides,” the father of four confesses. “It started with the news of our youngest daughter potentially having eye surgery, our oldest daughter breaking her leg, myself losing a record deal, our youngest daughter battling seizures, our car breaking down twice, and all six of us getting food poisoning. Life felt impossible, but the promise of Jesus held true. When things got chaotic, our rescue was His peace. He was the calm in the storm, and His faithfulness never left us. Not even once.”
After initially releasing a studio version of the faith-affirming offering, St. Cyr unveiled a stripped-down acoustic rendering, alongside the current duet with Hudson. “I love this song and believe in it so much,” the Elevation Worship songstress shares of the fresh collaboration. “I pray that you are blessed as you listen.”
Since last fall, St. Cyr has been dropping new music in anticipation of his follow-up to his critically-acclaimed self-titled debut. The 11-time GMA Canada Covenant Award winner has recently toured with Colton Dixon and Consumed by Fire, as well as joined the multi-artist lineup for the “Mac Powell & Friends” outing, which also featured Brandon Heath and Rhett Walker.
