New Song Feature: "Somebody Prayed" Crowder

Crowder’s mama has been praying for him his entire life, and the bearded singer is certainly thankful for her countless prayers. In fact, the hitmaker credits many of the miracles he’s seen unfold as answers to his mother’s prayers, and he testifies to the power of that phenomenon on his latest single, “Somebody Prayed.”

Melding folky instrumentation with an infectious pop beat, the mid-tempo track is infused with the kind of truth that only comes through personal experience. The emotion in his gravelly voice is evident as he reflects on the way prayer has shaped his own life and has the power to change the world around us. Finding comfort in a God who listens, Crowder observes that miracles often take place in our lives because of the prayers other people have prayed on our behalf.

“I can tell you, I wouldn’t be here right now if somebody wasn’t praying for me. Ask my mama. She’s my first text; she’s my first call. Mama’s praying right now, I’ll betcha, and I need it,” the chart-topping artist asserts. “This song is about hitting your knees, knowing that prayer works; it’s effective. God intervenes and is active; and things can change. Amen? Amen!”

Crowder penned “Somebody Prayed” with songwriters Ben Glover and Jeff Sojka, as well as Michael Cochren from Cochren & Co. The dusty pop-country original evokes some strong imagery alongside a rock solid hook and appears on Crowder’s most recent full-length effort, “The EXILE.”

The award winner will be bringing “Somebody Prayed” and his robust catalog of hits to fans nationwide through next spring with a travel itinerary that’s already three tours deep. He launches the “Together Again…Again Tour” with MercyMe and his co-writer in Cochren & Co. Oct. 3, 2024, before embarking on Air1’s “Worship Now Tour” as part of a multi-artist lineup that also features We The Kingdom, CAIN, Passion, Jon Reddick and guest speaker Louie Giglio.

In addition, it was just announced that Crowder will once again join TobyMac and friends for 2025’s installment of “Hits Deep,” scheduled to start Jan. 23, 2025, in Pensacola, Fla.
