On their fresh collaboration, “Something Better,” soulful singers Blanca and Tauren Wells embody Romans 8:28: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Blanca originally penned the sparsely produced song for her latest release, “The Heartbreak and The Healing,” a 13-track diary entry chronicling the most recent season of her life.

“Over the last few years, I’ve dealt with a lot of loss and a lot of pain — from losing my parents, to going through a divorce — just things that I never envisioned having to go through. And the crazy thing is, in the midst of all of that, it felt like there was no end, like I was going to be in that place — full of anxiety, full of pain, full of worry, full of fear — forever. But God, in His graciousness and in His goodness, brought me out of that. He healed me. He helped me. It’s still a journey to this day, but He definitely created something better from that place,” Blanca shares of the genesis of her new single. “I love the saying, ‘Let the flowers remind us why the rain was necessary.’ And that’s what God does with our life. Sometimes we go through hardships and we go through pain or losses, but in the end, He uses it to help us grow, to help us learn, or to create something better.”
An updated version of the track now features Wells. Together, the voices of the two earnest vocalists serve to elevate the story of the song and the ultimate truth that God never wastes a moment of our pain.
“Blanca and I have been friends for a looong time, and it’s an honor to be on a song with her. She’s swaggy, talented and pure-hearted.
