When you’ve been believing for breakthrough for years and pleading with God for deliverance but still haven’t seen Him move. When you’ve cried all the tears you can cry and prayed all the prayers you can pray. That’s when Hope Darst hopes you turn on her new single, “Mighty Name of Jesus,” a song she’s been leading at her home church, Nashville’s The Belonging Co, for the better part of a year.
The poignant declaration encourages listeners that our prayers aren’t in vain because we are lifting them up to a good Father, who hears us and is actively working on our behalf, even in ways we can’t see or comprehend.
“I’ll never forget the day we wrote it. We were hunting for a song that felt like a prayer for the body of believers to be able to sing and confess over their lives. We pulled so much Scripture from the story of Passover in the Old Testament, and I think it still holds true today that ‘no weapon formed against us shall prosper,’” Darst shares of the track she wrote with Lauren Sloat and Jacob Sooter. “This song is so special to me — it’s a reminder of the strength and power we have in His name… There is power, healing and victory in the mighty name of Jesus! Declare it over your life, your family and every situation.”
Darst recently had to declare this very truth over her own family as her daughter underwent emergency surgery for an unknown health condition. Thankfully, her daughter came through the operation and received a clean bill of health on the other side, but the mother of two says the waiting and the uncertainty of the situation forced her to live out the words of “Mighty Name of Jesus” and trust the Lord’s sovereignty in a deeper way.
The songstress’ new offering appears on her latest full-length collection, “In the Mighty Name,” the Kentucky native’s inaugural live album.
